Ten Year Anniversary Tiki Mug Pre-Order

In the the grand tradition of flat glazed, authentic-styled tiki mugs of the 1950s/ '60s, I present to you, The Hula Girls' ten year anniversary tiki mug by Tiki Diablo. When coming up with the concept for our ten year anniversary mug, I wanted to make sure that we paid tribute to the golden era of Polynesian pop mugs, that it was a Hawaiian Ku tiki, and that it wasn't a cartoon interpretation of our logo.

When Danny sent me the sculpt of this art piece, I was elated.

Production begins now and we will hopefully start shipping them out in the next three months or so. For those of you who have already ordered one, thank you so much for your patience… For those of you who have not ordered one, there are only about 25 left.

to order one now.

The Hula Girls' TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY TIKI MUG!

We are rapidly approaching The Hula Girls' Ten Year Anniversary!

I'm hoping to do a bunch of stuff for our anniversary, but here's the beginning of it...
Our first custom tiki mug! Edition of 150/ Limit one per customer.

Pre-order for the hand sculpted Hula Girls' Ten Year Anniversary tiki mug. We are excited to have our longtime friend, Danny Gallardo of Tiki Diablo, creating our first ever tiki mug. This design is limited to 150 mugs, all hand numbered.
LIMIT TO ONE PER CUSTOMER (unless otherwise approved by Spike).
In order to curb price gouging on EBay, any orders that contain more than one mug order will be refunded. We want the first 150 of our fans to each have an opportunity to get a mug.
Mugs should be sent out around November, but please be patient, these are hand crafted and production times may vary. This is a sketch of what the mug should look like. Actual design may be slightly different.

The Hula Girls first show ever, at Bamboo Ben, on August 14th, 2008

And The Hula Girls' most recent show (September, 2018)!

Thursday night at Pacific Seas!

We're back at one of our absolute favorite bars for another night of hula-a-go-go.
Downtown LA on Thursday night! The place is really incredible, we hope you'll join us.

Well, that's it, I guess...

Jason Lee and I for an impromptu and unsanctioned jam session in front of Don's on the last night of existence.

Then, after sitting for hours, listening to some really great singers and some downright horrible singers do karaoke on the last night ever of Don the Beachcomber, my buddies convinced me to go get my guitar and amp out of my friend's car. They were saying, 'you can't let this place go out with karaoke. I knew that the GM was watching the door and would probably not let me play one last song in the building... I just didn't think it was fitting to let Dons end with some 'who-cares' karaoke performance. So I strapped up my guitar and plugged into my amp in the parking lot. My buddy, Andrew, let me in through the side door, and I walked quickly to the space I had played so many times before. I knew exactly where the outlets were and crouched down and waited the few seconds for my amp to warm up. I really wish I had brought a bigger louder amp with more reverb, but this little Fender Blues Jr was the most efficient for the scheme... I lit into a fast surf song and kept one eye on the GM and one eye on the crowd. The karaoke guy was pissed at me for stealing his big finale.

After, I kept hearing from people that it was a nice palate cleanser after so many Neil Diamond and Jimmy Buffet songs...

So the last song ever played at Don the Beachcomber was Miserlou... by me. You can see the video clip on our Instagram page @thehulagirls

Thanks for the good times and the memories, Don's

The End.

Viva Las Vegas Eve Weekend!

Two chances to see The Hula Girls this weekend (4/12/18 and 4/13/18)!

...on Thursday at our second home, Pacific Seas, at Clifton's Republic in Downtown Los Angeles.

...and on Friday night in the Champagne Room at Harvell's with Viva Las Vegas' own Audrey Deluxe! We'll be providing the backing soundtrack to several lovely ladies as they perform burlesque. Gonna be a fun one!

The end of an era and posters now available

Well, I guess since Don the Beachcomber events and the OC Weekly posted that the the place is closing, I can finally say my part. First of all, I'm sorry for all of the cryptic depressing posts... this is one of the hardest things that I've had to go through... losing a restaurant... I know, it sounds insane, but 8 years of performing there, well over 100 shows, a commercial filming, Monday night meet ups with Art and friends, two Hula Girls' Burlesque shows, four Curse of the Tiki Halloween Variety Shows, the Hot Rod Luau with Agent Orange, two Tiki Highways, more New Years Eves than I can recall, and so many days and nights with friends at the Tiki Marketplace, Birthdays, graduations, and even some wakes... it's gut wrenching to lose.

But from its ashes, will rise Don the Beachcomber in another venue. It won't be mired in the weight of such an immense space or a landlord who is constantly trying to get them out. I've known about this fate since we 'saved' it the last time around. I knew it was coming. It doesn't make it any easier... but this weekend is a celebration! A celebration of all of the times that we spent under that roof together. I sincerely hope that you will join us this Friday night for a proper Hula Girls' send off to our absolute favorite place. A place that The Hula Girls have called home since our first show in Oct of 2010.

Oh, and for the gods' sake, don't steal anything, it's all moving on to another location.
This weekend is gonna be a fun one!

Aloha!

Don the Beachcomber 10 year celebration!

Don the Beachcomber celebrates it's Tenth Year in Sunset Beach! A special event, catered just for the tiki community and fans of the Sam's Seafood building.

The Hula Girls have been performing at Dons since 2010 and we are extremely happy to be headlining the show on Friday night. We requested that our buddies, the Ding Dong Devils and Outerwave join us as well. And we're really excited about performing with Ukulena for the first time. In the Longboard Room, the Breakaways and a Ventures tribute will be in the Longboard Room. We'll also have some extra stuff in our show... we are bringing one of my favorite ladies from The Hula Girls' Burlesque shows, Miss Madeline Sinclaire, back to perform with us! You can still see those shows on youtube, here.

Look, I know that I say it a lot... but you aren't going to want to miss this one. Seriously. I'm telling you. Not even joking. I'm even coming the next night to watch our old friends, Jason Lee and the RIP Tides with our former Hula-a-go-go-er Miss Judy Luck, perform. This is going to be a big, sold out night in the Hidden Village. Tickets are on sale now, at www.DontheBeachcomber.com
For the Gods' sake, don't miss it.

ALOHA!

Happy New Year!

The Hula Girls just played our first show of the year at one of our favorite bars, Don the Beachcomber. We return to Don's, during the day, for Tiki Makeke on Jan 20th... But first, a show at the gorgeous Pacific Seas within Clifton's Replublic in downtown LA on the 18th.

Hope to see you at one of the shows!
